2 REASONS, WHY SEVILLE, SPAIN WAS ONE OF THE CHOOSEN GAME OF THRONES FILMING LOCATION.

Are you one of the fans of Game of Thrones a worldwide phenomenon American fanstasy drama series? Due of their successful tv drama series, producers is more inspired to film all over the world, in season 5 the show added Spain to its list of filming locations. In my recent trips around Andalusia, Seville was one of my major hightlights, not just because it's a beautiful city but its one of the game of thrones filming locations and I know there are million avid fans out there, and I would like to write about it and share it with you.

Game of Thrones such a numbers of filming locations, such as Belfast and elsewhere in United Kingdom, Canada, Crotia, Iceland, Malta, Morocco, United States and Spain particularly Seville. 

Why Seville, Spain was one of the choosen of Game of Thrones filming location?

1. Game of thrones producer fell in love of Real Alcázar which is perfect for the setting of Dorne and the water gardens palace, a fictional region of westeros and palace, a house of Martell, ruler of dorne. it must supposed to be a place that luxurios, pleasant and warm, as described of George RR Martin series books a song of ice and fire.

Game of thrones filmed in four parts of Real Alcázar, The Ambassador's hall, Mercury Pond, The bath of Maria Padilla and the garden.

* The Ambassador's Hall - The Ambassador's Hall of Real Alcázar is perfect for the setting of Water Gardens Palace living room, where the interior designs is heavily influenced by moorish occupation, which is very impressive decoration and designs, with stunning gold ceiling, moorish style arches, plaster mouldings and an Arabic writing and handmade geometric tiles.

* Mercury Pond ( Estanque de Mercurio ) - Mercury Pond of Real Alcázar is perfect for the setting of Water Garden Palace garden with italian grotto presided over by the figure of god Mercury, designed in 1576.

*The Baths of Maria Padilla ( Los Baños de Doña Maria de Padilla ) - The baths of Maria de Padilla are rainwater tanks beneath the patio del crucero. It has a central swimming pool covered with a nave of ten section of ribbed vault flanked by two side ailes. According to the legend Maria Padilla was a mistress of King Peter of Castle de Leon from 1350-1369.

* The Garden ( Los Jardines ) - Real Alcázar garden orchard with fruit trees, horticultural produce and a wide variety of fragrant flowers with ponds and pools.

2. Seville, Spain is full of historic places with ancient architectural designs by moorish and romans era, which is perfect for the setting of their fantasy drama.

Game of Thrones filmed four places in Seville such as, Real Alcázar Royal Palace, Amphitheatre of Italica, Osuna Bullring and Seville Royal Dockyards.

* Real Alcázar Royal Palace - is a royal palace in Seville, Andalusia, Spain originally developed by moorish muslim kings. The palace is renowned as one of the most beautiful palace in Spain, being regraded as one of the most outstanding examples of mudėjar architecture found in Iberian Peninsula. The upper level of Alcázar is still used by the royal family as the official Seville residence and administered by the Patrimonio Nacional.  It is the oldest royal palace in Europe still in use and was registered in 1987 by UNESCO as a WORLD HERITAGE.

* Amphitheatre of Italica - huge ancient amphitheatre, one of the biggest amphitheatre of Roman world, used for gladiator fights with vaulted gallery and patterned mosaics. It can accomodate spectators approximately 25,000 people, located outside the village of Santiponce 9 kilometers north from the city of Seville. Italica is a roman ancient city in the province of Hispania Baetica and the birth place of Roman Emperors Trajan and Hadrian.

* Osuna Bullring - a massive bullring in Osuna a small town of Seville, which seats capacity 5,500-6,000 people, built in early 1900s one of the largest bullring in Spain, built in ashlars from stone pits of Osuna, designed by Anibal Gonzalez.

* Seville Royal Dockayards - is a medieval shipyard in the city of Seville. Built in 13th century in a gothic style. In 15th century they used it as a storage depots and in 17th century five of the sheds were converted to charity hospital and in 1993 the remaining sheds purchased by regional government for ministry of defense and restored.
