1. Mezquita (Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba) 

is the number one famous of Cordoba tourist attractions and landmarks due of the remarkable blend of Moorish and romans architecture. Mezquita is a catholic church dedicated to the assumption of the virgin mary. According to a traditional account, a small Visigoth church of catholic basilica of saint Vincent of Lerins originally stood on the site. In 784 Abd al-Rahman I, ordered construction of the great mosque, which was considerably expanded by later muslin rulers. Cordoba returned to Christians rule in 1236 during the Reconquista and the building was converted to a Roman Catholic Church, culminating in the insertion of a Renaissance cathedral nave in the 16th century.

2. Roman Bridge, Calahorra Tower & Puerta del Puente

is a bridge in the historic centre of Cordoba, originally built in the early 1st century BC by Romans across the Guadalquivir river, though it has been reconstructed at various times. Most of the present structure dates from the Moorish reconstruction in the 8th century. During the early Islamic domination, the muslim governor ordered the bridge to be built on the ruins of what was left of the old Roman construction. In the middle ages, Calahorra Tower and the Puerta del Puente were built at the bridge´s southern and northern ends. The bridge was reconstructed and expanded to its current size.

3. Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos


is a medieval Alcazar located in the historic centre of Cordoba, next to the Guadalquivir river near to grand mosque. The fortress served as the primary residences of Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon. The architecture ensemble has a sober character in its exterior and splendid in its interior, with the magnificent gardens and courtyards that maintain the mudejar inspiration.


The Alcazar was declared as a cultural interest heritagein 1931 and it forms as part of the historic center of Cordoba that was declared part of the World Heritage by UNESCO in 1994.

4. Roman Temple of Cordoba

is a Roman Temple remains, which discovered in 1950´s during the expansion of the city hall. The Temple was built during the 1st century, during the reign of Emperor Claudius  but was not finished until the reign of Domitian, in 2nd century it was underwent some modifications. The material used was almost exclusively marble, from the columns to the walls, going through the roof and entablature. The quality of the marble and the size of that tell us that its construction was carried out by skills craftsmen of high quality, placing the result at the level of the most beautiful buildings of the empire.

is the ruins of a vast fortified Arab Muslim medieval palace city, built by Abd-ar-Rahman III, the first Umayyad Caliph of Cordoba, located on the western outskirts of Cordoba. The city composed of ceremonials reception halls, mosques, administrative and government offices, gardens, mint workshops, barracks, residence and baths.
